Weekend adventures were had recently at a Defensive Driving Course. Part of the day is spent inside learning some facts and figures when it comes to road safety and the other part of the day you get to put this new knowledge into action under simulated ‘dangerous situations’ – a.k.a. swerving around lot’s of witches hats with some snazzy braking going on. Fact: did you know that the safest drivers on the road are actually ‘L platers’, under the age of 18?
Back on track Heidi……………….Anyway, as the adrenalin was pumping and our skills & tyres were being tested, we got to repeat certain exercises a number of times throughout the day to track how we were improving. From this it was very obvious that where you focused on is where you ended up going.
Focusing on the gaps in the road meant you managed to drive safely through the gaps. Focusing on the witches hats generally meant you ended up running into some pretty serious strife (on our course witches hats were anything from kids running onto the road, trucks randomly reversing, a 3-car pile up on the freeway etc), which was a bit of a giggle at the time, but had a much more serious impact on all of us.
So as you go about your week this week remember, looking where you want to go, means you will steer where you wantto go. BE VERY CLEAR WHERE YOU WANT TO GO AND FOCUS ON IT with LASERLIGHT FOCUS.
My questions to you, to ponder for this week are:
- Where in your biz/career/life can you simulate a ‘dangerous situation’ so that you can drill (in a relatively safe way) what you would do if that occurred and review if that was the best strategy?
- Who on your team or in your environment can help you learn new techniques to swerve around your witches hats?
- What goal do you need to be clearer about, or change, so that you know exactly what you are steering towards?
What different language and possibilites could you employ? Here are 3 to action this week:
- refine a goal and put it up somewhere where you can see it, often
- write down three of your witches hats for today and spend 5mins visualizing them having melted away, if they haven’t already melted
- decide who is the best role model currently in your environment for having already swerved a major obstacle that you yourself would like to get past, ring them up, ask for 3mins of their time and tell them they are your role model for XYZ, and then ask for any tips or strategies they used to overcome it.
As always, if you are ready to bust a belief, feel / look / sound / be different, and are keen to tap into a support team then you know where to find me…………HH
On a personal note this week ~
I had originally been hesitating sending out my blog details to everyone I know – one of my witches hats was in the form of self talk around ‘but what if this just annoys them by clogging up their inboxes’, and ‘what if they only learn one thing from my posts….’ Well, now focusing on the plethora of gaps in the road……..and of course you decide if this ads to your awareness of spacious gaps 😉
New clarity gained this week on hesitation beliefs I had that no longer serve me. Flying forwards…….
Who else do you know that likes thinking & questioning? Plus being the best that they can be? Well forward this on and invite them into the community 🙂
No hesitation needed beautiful Heidi… I happened across your blog by chance and immediately “followed” (is that right? I’m not up with by blogging lingo). Always a pleasure to hear your view of the world and your truly inspirational Words of Wisdom (WOW). Xxx
