A career-change client in the past week shared an interesting question – a question they were asked in their most recent interview was… if you could describe your personality and what you bring to the team, which car are you and why?…
I attended a seminar about 7 years ago where the same question was asked. I can’t remember which car I said best summed me up, but another question that the presenters followed with I do distinctly remember, which was “…if you are brave” (there was my cue!) “ask your clients that same question and see what answers they give. If you are not satisfied with the answer it’s time for a branding and/or offering update. It’s time for change”.
Have a think – what car are you? Would your peeps agree? For the brave in you, go ask 3 people and see what they say.
I promptly went and asked a number of people what car they thought I was and the one that pushed my buttons the most was the answer of ambulance.
The ambulance accuser had been in the unique position of working with me, then receiving formal coaching from me, and then for a short time even living with me. The observation really got me riled.
I know myself better now and am now proud to own which vehicle I am. An ambulance is both a noun and a verb, so people can be ambulanced to where they need to go, with a team around them that are well equipped, especially in times of great need. I help. I heal. I have a wealth of amazing tools and experience. I bring happiness.
Give me a ring for a coaching session. They bring relief.
On a personal note:
My 2016 face-to-face Women’s Circles begin in a week. Send me a message if you are or have a woman in your environment who would love support getting to where she needs to go this year.
I asked my Mum which car she was and without batting an eyelid replied: ChittyChittyBangBang! Talk about me experiencing FOMO!!! Dammit. Why doesn’t my vehicle have wings too!?!
