I discovered this society on a recent walk in my area. You know when you have one of those strolls and find something completely new which you have already walked past 100 times, well it was one of those walks. So I’ve had a Google and this is what I’ve discovered…

The United Friendly Society (bloody awesome name btw!) was established to offer financial assistance to its members in need, and to promote moral, social and intellectual improvement of its members. They weren’t about pomp and rituals, rather, they set their sights on improving their community and influencing the government of the day. They had many activities for their communities such as debates, concerts and other social activities. Now they are (and similar such societies) amalgamated with health and life insurance companies. I do get a monthly magazine from my insurance company with health tid-bits and ample marketing, but nowhere through those channels do I get a community. Interesting that that is where the insurance platform started, and now it is largely an internet based service with no hint of anything community-driven.
This society name got me thinking about what societies I feel need starting or developing, where we have societies and support groups that we don’t already tap into, and what would the world look like with more community involvement. Which society are you going to tap-into this year? To give and receive support from, and share?
I’m starting two women’s groups this year kicking off the end of Jan – if you know, or are yourself, a woman on a path of giving, creating, sharing and being more whilst doing the same for yourself, then this is for you. Small coaching groups, in a private & safe space, to quietly assist you in revolutionizing your year; your feminine presence, bottom line, health, relationships and happiness.
I’d love to welcome you to join one of these groups.

And remember, it’s all about community.
