Purification of memory

I didn’t ever imagine to be quoting Pope John Paul II in this blog, but here goes…

For the new millenium he posed that we aim for purifying our memory of the past. There’s a zillion pages on the web about it, but what I’ve taken it to mean is the power of reflection, and learning from the past. Yet sometimes we are hesitant to do so for fear of what that could mean (fear of course is just False Evidence Appearing Real). By witnessing things from a different perspective we can move on.

If you do not acknowledge a mistake then your conscience will not be aroused next time you make it. And there will be no moving on. There will just be a repeat of the same pattern.

So my point is work out what those are for you. Those moments in time that you still feel a sting about. And filter for the lessons. I assisted a client with this this morning, and they have now got so much peace from forgiving themselves about some past career moves. It’s amazing what we hold onto as ‘mistakes’, but then with some new awareness we actually learn what part they played to getting us to where we are now. Once reframed we can drop the energy we have about it and make space for new feelings to come in. Ahhhhh, such a peaceful place to work from. My guess is that client has just given themselves a promotion, so the payrise is being manifested as you read.

How lucky am I to do the work I do. Am so grateful.

On a personal note it took me some years to shed past beat-ups I had around some of my career choices (or perceived lack of them). I was so terrified as being labelled as ‘just a teacher’ so walked away from a natural path of mine, only for it to keep returning and reminding me of one of my gifts.

Once learning it was only myself that had boxed me into a limited view of what a teacher could be I was then able to stretch my wings and own my teaching qualities, the gift of which facilitates so much awesome learning on four continents and counting!! And never did I expect to be so grateful to the teachers which didn’t work for me. I needed the war inside of me to create the peace. It’s made me find different ways to educate that resonate with a wider group of people. Yeee-harrr for flexibility and learning. And being able to share this magic around the world.
