I had a client uncover an interesting belief yesterday. They were expecting to be given a job just because they are hard working.
That’s kind of like a bullfighter expecting not to be gored by a bull, just because they are a vegetarian!
People don’t necessarily get A just because of B.
They can. Just not necessarily.
But often we can have unrealistic expectations because of our beliefs and our environment, so we don’t witness all the parts that have gone into making something happen, say someone else in their world getting a new job, for example. On the outside it might look easy. On the inside there may have been many many many steps that were taken to get the outcome the applicant wanted.
Related to progressing in your career that can be anything from the additional study you’ve done outside of work hours, that paper you wrote and had published in your last role, the networking evenings you’ve been to, or or or….
Everything counts.
On a personal note I’ve realized that I was expecting to have met Mr Right, be married and have kids by now just because it’s what I want to do in this lifetime, I am a nice person and I’m going to be an awesome mummy. The past couple of years have been an interesting journey around this and letting the expectation go and trusting, whilst playing full-out in the dating scene. Think there is a book in it…..will keep you posted.
As always, if you are ready to receive coaching to bust a belief, uncover some expectations you’ve been carrying and getting worked up about – even if at an unconscious level – GET A PAYRISE, feel / look / sound / be different, and are keen to tap into a support team ready to challenge you to where you need to go then you know where to find me…………HH
And who else do you know that likes thinking & questioning? Plus being the best that they can be WHILST KICKING BUTT IN THEIR CAREER and delivering massive value? Well forward this on and invite them into the community 🙂
