Driving past my local shopping strip yesterday I noticed the video store had a huge banner out the front: ‘2 weekly and 2 overnight video’s for $14’ (am actually stunned that they are still in business, not sure if someone should tell them you can order & hire online, or download them straight from the internet, or even hire movies from vending machines out the front of supermarkets nowadays. Anyway, back on track Heidi!!).
I was comparing in my mind, wow, two new movie releases & 2 weeklies for only $14, well if 2 of us were going to go to the cinema that’d be $38, so wow, what a bargain.
But the ah-hah came with my next thought which was that I had limited my comparison to only one thing. Which got me thinking more about comparing and weighing up options. So, what if we added more comparisons to the mix, such as $14 today, if saved, would be worth 15 times that in 30yrs time, so the real question is what would I do with $210? (suddenly my movies seem really expensive β let alone the fact that I have only managed to watch half a movie in total in the last 3 months!!) And what about 8hrs in a week spent without watching movies, what could you do then?
And then it came to me – it’s actually all about asking for exactly what YOU want. Not what a marketing campaigner wants.
My suggestions to you to ponder over this week:
~ what do you really want?
~ what could you do with an 8hr concentration of time, just for you? Most people give that to their employer 5 times a week, what if you did it for yourself…(and chose to spend differently, then maybe less of those hours would be shared with an employer….)
On a personal note, I want to share my new coaching program for career changes, promo’s and payrisesΒ – it’s hot off the press …details to follow shortly.
As always, if you are ready to bust a belief, feel / look / sound / be different, and are keen to tap into a support team then you know where to find me…………HH
