Trust is the highest form of compliment

Or trust yourself?

Trust yourself?

Trust is the highest form of compliment. But we don’t trust the judgment of just anyone. We are most likely to trust peeps who share our values and beliefs of course.

So what values do we live by and which beliefs do we embody that need trust reviewing? It’s been a big theme in my life in the last couple of months and has really highlighted how powerful pondering time and external soundboards are to test if our values and beliefs are the ones best serving us.

My suggestion to you to ponder over this next week:

~ think about where you have been extended trust

~ and secondly, where you trust, does any of this trust need reviewing (knowing that trust is the highest form of compliment)?

Here are some personal examples I’ve come up with so far from my world. Firstly, a few where I have been entrusted:

  • minding family and friend’s children
  • being handed the reins as a leader of a team, a figurehead for a business and a spokesperson for a group
  • daily in my profession as a coach with my clients
  • driving passengers

Secondly, examples of where I trusted and am keen to review and consciously act differently:

  • Supermarkets – seriously, was putting sugar into canned sweetcorn really for our highest good? And packing stodge in a box, that’s in a plastic bag, and served with liquid in a carton really the best way to start the day?
  • Media dramatization. An example is stats around the levels of unemployment. Is it 6% who are without work or 94% of the population employed?
  • Blood test results that if screened through one provider state you are in an ‘at risk’ category, and yet if they are screened through another provider you can fit into the ‘average’ or ‘no risk’ category.

Some hilarious ad not so hilarious examples of trust in different forms:

  • The Chinese on-the-whole do not trust many electronic goods made in China, why would you when the Japanese goods are amazing and can be shipped across the BoHai Sea in next to no time. I met a guy responsible for the shipping schedules of boat-loads of Chinese electronic goods being shipped ‘out ‘of Chinese waters, where the ships promptly do a U-turn and then head straight back to China and can then legally be said to have come from abroad and therefore be twice the price and more trustworthy.
  • An aunt of mine was hesitant to put her dental-health into the hands of just one toothpaste manufacturer, in case they got it wrong. So she bought a different brand of toothpaste at the end of every toothpaste tube so as she could hedge her bets and not leave her chompers to just one manufacturer.
  • Free lunches. “There’s no such thing as a free lunch”. I’ve had some good ones, lunches that is, all free, have you?

As always, if you are ready to bust a belief, feel / look / sound / be different, and are keen to tap into a support team then you know where to find me…………HH

And who else do you know that likes thinking & questioning? Plus being the best that they can be? Well forward this on and invite them into the community 🙂
