I’ve just experienced 2 weeks away of intense training so as I could learn, drill & now offer greater distinctions to my clients ~ thereby saving them some learnings and such a long time away from home (those of us on the course who found it hard to explain to others outside of the training room what on earth we were doing such intensive training for, found it easier to explain to outsiders that we were ‘going on holidays!!!’). Long days, almost no contact with the outside world, a lot of time outside of comfort zones, and a very rewarding experience along the way. And the point of this blog relates to mine and my friend’s epiphany around comparisons that we had on the first day.
People on this course are at different stages of their learning. Very different stages. Previously I had pegged my abilities and skills to others on the course, yet armed with a new tool and new awareness I was able to really shift that focus this time. My new tool was a video recorder, nicknamed ‘The Oracle’.
We were encouraged to film ourselves as much as we wanted over the course, to capture the true essence of where our skill levels were at, and the evidence of change and improvements were unbelievable. So to were the measures I began to compare myself with and the ensuing victories I allowed myself as I saw improvements over the 2 weeks. And SO often the picture in my mind of how I had done was very different to the actual picture that The Oracle showed up. New clarity gained this week on how to measure my real performance. Flying forwards…….
My questions to you, to ponder for this week are:
- When learning new materials or new skills what do you compare yourself to?
- Which area of your life could you benefit from clearly knowing your trueability/skill level and be able to act upon that truth with new clarity (for example, maybe you are better at one area of your work, and if you were able to voice that more clearly to the team or an interview panel then things would change for you)?
- Where in the past did you have evidence of yourself doing somethingbadly, and that by realizing that it was just something new for you and that you no doubt would improve with some new awareness and/or training you can just let that go now?
What different language and possibilites could you employ? Here are 3 to action this week:
- What else is possible in terms of skill levels and abilities for you to ramp up this week?
- What different awareness are you going to have RIGHT NOW, if you haven’t already got it?
- Who is currently achieving the skill levels that you would like to have, and what beliefs must they have to be getting those results?
As always, if you are ready to bust a belief, feel / look / sound / be different, and are keen to tap into a support team then you know where to find me…………HH
Who else do you know that likes thinking & questioning? Plus being the best that they can be? Well forward this on and invite them into the community 🙂
