Fresh is best

Freezers come with ‘suggestion guides’. Yup, apparently there is a swag of research that has been done on when is too long to have something in your freezer. And it’s slightly different for each food group depending on how the item lived pre-freezing, the water content at the time of being frozen and other stuff like the average temperature of your freezer. I like to imagine some Muppet-esque Beaker type scientist in a white coat, seriously dabbling away in a lab taste testing the thawed items and pulling funny faces at the taste outcomes!!

Back on track Heidi………….Anyway, work positions on the other hand are not as neatly packaged with optimum time suggestion & action guides. Or are they? Perhaps you know someone who is in a state of ‘blah’ at work at present. Symptoms can include procrastination on projects and deadlines, the individual struggling to make it to work in the mornings, or them feeling uninspired, disengaged and/or undervalued in what they are working on at present.

The first step needs to be to create your own suggestion guide for the work that you do and that you want to be doing. My questions to you, to ponder for this week are:

  • When is now a good time to ditch the blah?
  • Which area in your career fridge/freezer, if you chose to have some new clarity, is past it’s best before date?
  • Ask yourself in what other areas in your life are you letting stuff go bad? Using the mantra that fresh is best, are any of these areas ones that you need to work on:

Leads?

Presentation materials?

Fridge items?

Car servicing needs?

Your CV?

Insurances?

Personal health?

What different language and possibilites could you employ? Here are 3 to action this week:

  • Where do you need fresh things in your career?
  • What different decision are you going to make RIGHT NOW around your work, if you haven’t already made them?
  • Who is the right person for you to talk to about this right now?

As always, if you are ready to bust a belief, feel / look / sound / be different, particularly in the area of your career and you are keen to tap into a support team then you know where to find me…………HH

On a personal note this week ~

I was feeling a bit of overwhelm around a number of projects I have on the go at the moment, both in my work and at home. So being proactive I decided it best to jot them all down. And that’s when I found myself starting to buy into my own busyness as well as adding to it – I had started adding masses of other things to my ‘to action’ lists that I hadn’t finished from months and months ago.

Chances are that if I hadn’t yet completed them they were no longer fresh, ie, no longer necessary or timely to action anyway. Phew, that more than halved the list with one realization! And suddenly there’s a whole stack more time in my world.

New clarity gained this week on real priorities vs. believed priorities I had that no longer serve me. Flying forwards…….

Who else do you know that likes thinking & questioning? Plus being the best that they can be? Well forward this on and invite them into the community 🙂
